World Cup 2026 Predictions — Who Will Win?

The 2026 World Cup is the most open in years. The expanded format gives underdogs more chances. Reigning champions Argentina are aging. France, Spain, and England all have strong squads but flawed records in knockout stages. Here's how the contenders stack up.

🇫🇷 France

Tier 1 Favorite

FIFA #4 entering the tournament. With Mbappé at peak form, France have the most dangerous attack in the world. Their weakness historically is underperforming the expectations set by their squad depth. Group I is manageable — Norway and Senegal are beatable.

🇪🇸 Spain

Tier 1 Favorite

Reigning Euro 2024 champions, FIFA #2. Spain's tiki-taka system has evolved — they now press higher and transition faster. Group H with Uruguay is their toughest test, but Spain have the squad depth to rotate and still perform.

🇦🇷 Argentina

Tier 2 Contender

Defending World Cup champions, but Messi turns 39 during the tournament. Argentina's squad is aging, and the new generation hasn't yet proven itself at this level. Group J is favorable. Expect Argentina to exit in the Quarter-finals if the bracket draws them against France or Spain early.

🇧🇷 Brazil

Tier 2 Contender

FIFA #5, but Brazil have underdelivered at every World Cup since 2002. A new generation of attackers makes them dangerous. Group C with Morocco is the real test. If they navigate the group stage cleanly, they have the talent to go deep.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England

Dark Horse

FIFA #5, with a stacked Premier League-based squad. Group L against Croatia is a rematch of 2018. England's historical weakness is the penalty shootout — they've lost five World Cup shootouts. The new generation may finally break the curse.

🇩🇪 Germany

Dark Horse

Host-nation-adjacent boost doesn't apply, but Germany have rebuilt well. The 2024 Euro run showed they can compete at the highest level again. Group E looks winnable. A Semi-final run is realistic.
